Hospital / Clinic
Deliver superior patient care through sustainable, cost-effective, and energy-efficient hospitals
Hospitals and clinics that work deliver quality patient outcomes. That requires outstanding doctors and nurses, to be sure. But it also requires facilities and IT infrastructure that work non-stop, because there can be no downtime in healthcare delivery. Beyond functioning well and continuously, hospitals and clinics must offer environments that improve the patient experience and satisfaction while enhancing patient care – all in a sustainable manner. Hospital energy efficiency, operational efficiency, and patient care must all remain a high priority at a time when reimbursements are declining and capital budgets are constrained.
Johnson Controls worked with the not-for-profit Parrish Healthcare Center at Port St. John in North Brevard County, Florida to create an outpatient facility so efficient and sustainable that it became the first healthcare outpatient building in the state to earn Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design® (LEED) Silver certification. We helped create a central utility plant for Phoenix Children’s Hospital using an enhanced, alternative design. This is expected to save $10.9 million over 15 years while keeping the hospital running reliably and meeting its sustainability goals. Johnson Controls also partnered with Pioneers Memorial Hospital in Brawley, California, to design and implement a broad range of hospital energy efficiency and operational improvements that cut electricity use by 20 percent and natural gas use by 18 percent.
Optimized healthcare facilities
We work with all your stakeholders to develop projects that meet your goals and objectives. Johnson Controls can be your single point of responsibility for all aspects of implementation, coordinating with the necessary people and organizations to bring your project in on time and within budget. We offer a host of cost- and energy-saving technologies, such as lighting and HVAC systems, all controlled and optimized by our Metasys® building management system for maximum efficiency, comfort, and safety. We design and build central utility plants that reduce hospital energy consumption and save money while keeping your facility up and running. To meet your sustainability goals, Johnson Controls offers water and energy conservation measures including renewable energy options such as solar and geothermal power.
Strategic financing options that guarantee financial outcomes
Johnson Controls can help you identify ways to fund improvements or protect your capital. For example, performance contracting is a way to fund improvements by allowing energy and operational savings to offset a project’s costs. In addition, central utility plants can be owned by a third party, allowing a hospital to purchase only the outputs of chilled and hot water instead of paying for the costs of construction, ownership and maintenance of the plant.
Integrated IT infrastructures that are ready for the future
As a technology integrator, Johnson Controls can help you create a well-designed IT infrastructure to support the proliferation of high-technology medical devices, the conversion to electronic record keeping, and the ability to monitor and administer care anytime, anywhere.
